Alex Sarama

Director of Player Development, Cleveland Cavaliers

Alex Sarama is a pioneer in applying skill acquisition research to sports, particularly basketball, where he is known for his use of the constraints-led approach. His book Transforming Basketball, released in April 2024, became an Amazon bestseller. Alex's career began at NBA Europe, and he later coached at College Borgomanero Prep in Italy, where he applied evidence-based coaching methods. He has since held roles with Paris Basketball, the London Lions, Rip City Remix, and is currently the Director of Player Development for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Alex has delivered coaching clinics in over 40 countries and consulted with numerous basketball federations and NCAA programs. He holds a degree in Modern History from the University of Nottingham and enjoys playing jazz saxophone.
