Jessica O'Kelly
Sport Psychologist
Jessica is a UK-trained Sport Psychologist based in British Columbia, Canada. She holds degrees in Psychology, Sport Psychology, and Educational Mental Health, and is qualifying as a Sport Psychologist through the British Psychological Society pathway. Throughout her training, she has conducted research on gender inequality in sport and explored the application of the evidence-based Resilient RESET intervention within a UK Tier 2 Academy Football Club. Jessica combines her background in clinical mental health services, working with adults, youth, and families, with a compassionate, holistic approach to sport psychology. She specialises in working with athletes who are perfectionistic, emotionally reactive, inconsistent under pressure, or on the edge of burnout. Her work focuses on strengthening long-term motivation, enhancing performance, and helping athletes build more sustainable ways of relating to pressure, setbacks, and self-worth. Jessica also works closely with families and coaches to reduce pressure, foster emotional safety, and create environments where high potential doesn’t come at the cost of mental health.
Workshop Description
In this interactive workshop, sport psychologist Jess will share her journey from traditional clinical settings into sport performance psychology, weaving together her lived experiences with professional training in Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and the Resilient RESET approach. RESET is an evidence-based compassionate intervention specifically adapted for athletes, designed to train adaptive responses to setbacks and adversity in ways that boost both performance and long-term wellbeing. Jess will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the evidence base behind Resilient RESET, her own applied research, and real-world applications across individual work, team dynamics, and group workshops. This session is for anyone curious about how to effectively apply compassion in sport: how to make these concepts stick, help athletes build sustainable mental routines, and ultimately shift performance narratives from the inside out.
